How to Clean and Maintain Your Car Figurines and Ornaments

Your car ornaments add personality to your drive, but dust and sunlight can take their toll. Proper cleaning and maintenance will keep your car decorations looking their best for years to come. Here’s how to care for them based on their material.

General Tips:

  • Regular Dusting: Use a soft, microfiber cloth or a soft-bristled brush to gently remove dust from dashboard ornaments weekly.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never use abrasive cleaners, strong solvents, or ammonia-based products on your car ornaments, as they can damage finishes and cause fading.

Material-Specific Care:

  • Resin & PVC Figurines: Dampen a cloth with a mild soap and water solution, wring it out well, and wipe the surface. Dry immediately with a separate dry cloth.
  • Metal Ornaments (e.g., some car top ornaments): Use a dedicated metal polish and a soft cloth to restore shine. Avoid getting polish on your car’s surfaces.
  • Plush Decorations: Gently vacuum with a brush attachment. For spot cleaning, use a mild upholstery cleaner and a damp cloth, then air dry thoroughly.
  • Wooden Accents: Dust regularly and treat occasionally with a furniture polish suitable for the specific wood type.

Prevention is Key:
When parked, use a sunshade to protect your interior car decorations from prolonged UV exposure, which is the primary cause of fading and material degradation.
