How Climate and Weather Should Guide Your Car Decoration Choices

The inside of a car is a harsh environment, subject to extreme temperature swings and intense sunlight. Your choice of car decoration shouldn’t just be about style—it must also be a practical decision based on your local climate to ensure longevity and safety.

For Sunny and Hot Climates:

  • Priority: UV Resistance. Prolonged sun exposure is the biggest threat, causing fading and brittleness. Choose car ornaments made from acrylic, high-quality UV-stable resins, or treated metals.
  • Avoid: Cheap plastics that become discolored and weak, and plush materials that may fade.
  • Tip: Use a sunshade whenever parked to protect your dashboard ornaments.

For Cold and Variable Climates:

  • Priority: Temperature Resilience. Materials must withstand freezing cold and the heat of the car’s heater without cracking or warping. Silicone, certain plastics, and metals are good choices.
  • Avoid: Very brittle plastics or natural materials like wood that can crack with expansion and contraction.
  • Tip: Ensure adhesives for any car decoration are rated for temperature extremes to prevent failure.

General Advice:
No matter your climate, securing your car ornaments properly is non-negotiable. Use strong non-slip pads for dashboard figures and ensure any external pieces are mounted securely to handle wind and motion. Choosing climate-appropriate pieces means your car decoration investment will last for seasons to come.
